Geospatial Data Inventory and Data Clearinghouse
Nebraska Geospatial Data Center is maintained by the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources on behalf of the Nebraska GIS Steering Committee and as a service to the broader user community. The site provides a means to search for geospatial data for the geographic area of Nebraska. The site also provides online tools to develop "metadata-lite" to enable geospatial data to listed and searchable on the site if full FGDC-compliant metadata is not currently available. At the current time the bulk of this listing in the clearinghouse are provided by the Department of Natural Resources, but other public agencies and private entities are encouraged to list their data on this enterprise clearinghouse.
Nebraska Data Inventory is a Nebraska-specific site designed to facilitate a decentralized process of identifying geospatial data that is available for the geographic area of Nebraska. The site is designed to allow individuals in the GIS/geospatial data user community to register at the site and use a brief set of online questions to identify geospatial data that they have available that others may wish to know about. Listing of data on the site does not necessarily imply that the data is available to all comers for no fee. The site also provides the capability to list planned projects as a means to facilitate data development partnerships. This is just an online tool, and its utility will develop on the willingness of folks to populate the inventory. Your support of this effort on behalf of the broader GIS user community would be much appreciated. Thanks.
